SVGL Land Use Bylaw Update
Council gave first reading to the Summer Village of Ghost Lake DRAFT Land Use Bylaw 2026-01 on November 30, 2025 and set the Public Hearing Date for January 31, 2026 at 11am at the Community Hall. The Public Hearing is the opportunity for residents, owners and anyone who is affected by the Bylaw to present their comments on the proposed Bylaw to Council. If you can not attend the Public Hearing you are welcome to submit written comments to policy@ghostlake.ca by 8:00pm January 30, 2026. Written submissions will be read out at the Public Hearing and become part of the minutes. Council will listen and consider all comments and following the Public Hearing may make changes to the proposed Land Use Bylaw 2026-01 prior to giving second and third reading. Once third reading is given, the Bylaw comes into effect.
The Land use Bylaw is the tool that regulates land development and subdivision within the Summer Village to help build a community based on the vision and policies of the Summer Village of Ghost Lake Municipal Development Plan. The Land Use Bylaw’s purpose is to prohibit or regulate and control the use and development of land and buildings within the Summer Village.

PURSUANT to the Municipal Government Act, being Chapter M-26 of the Statutes of Alberta, notice is hereby given that the Council of the Summer Village of Ghost Lake will hold a Public Hearing on January 31st, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. prior to second reading of proposed Land Use Bylaw 2026-01.
THE PURPOSE of proposed Land Use Bylaw 2026-01 is to replace the current Land Use Bylaw 195 in its entirety, including all amendments.
THEREFORE, TAKE NOTICE THAT a Public Hearing to consider the proposed Land Use Bylaw 2026-01 will be held at the Ghost Lake Village Community Hall, Summer Village of Ghost Lake, Alberta at 11:00 a.m. on the 31st day of January 2026.
AND FURTHER TAKE NOTICE THAT at the Public Hearing, Council will hear any person or groups of persons acting on their behalf who are affected by the proposed Land Use Bylaw 2026-01.
AND FURTHER TAKE NOTICE THAT any written submissions for the Public Hearing must be submitted on or before 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30th, 2026. Submissions can be submitted via email to policy@ghostlake.ca.
AND FURTHER TAKE NOTICE THAT both written and verbal presentations may be given at the Public Hearing.
AND FURTHER TAKE NOTICE THAT a copy of the proposed Land Use Bylaw 2026-01 can be viewed online on the Summer Village of Ghost Lake website at www.ghostlake.ca .

What Changes Were Made After the October 26 Council Meeting
The last version of the Land Use Bylaw was version 7 and was discussed at Council on October 26. Council discussed a number of recommended changes to be done prior to first reading. The list of changes that were made and included in the DRAFT Land Use Bylaw 2026-01 presented to Council for first reading can be found HERE.
